it’s cold outside…but we are thinking ahead to late spring 2017. here are a few of the 2016 container garden plantings we did for our clients…(we often forget to photograph so these are just a few of the many client containers we planted in 2016!)
SPRING 2016
belmont – ready for spring with solomon’s seal, violet pansies, lavendar, lobelia + frittilaria
brilliant kaleidoscope orchids + moss in dulang bowl – an easter essential – belmont hill
a pair of wooden planters on a low-light cambridge deck – subtle + monochromatic – the textures are the stars in these containers
our friend + client in belmont who is ALL about the COLOR…and lots of it! – a challenge due to the copious amounts of shade…
color for passover – early planting – 3 charcoal containers in the woodlands – loved this combination for spring
SUMMER
a beautiful home in cambridge – pennoyer newman olive jar with duranta, ferns + a play on the silhouette!
back at the woodlands – bright green glazed pot with standard marguerite daisy + a mix of reds, purples + chartreuse
EARLY SUMMER at Dr. Sarah’s, Belmont – red + claret, lime green + chartreuse, a hint of blue – FUN! a pair of tapered square charcoal containers
arlington – large florentine square containers with yellow twig dogwood + cohorts
back at the woodlands….the euphorbia ‘was still going’ when we transitioned these 3 charcoal grey containers on a back deck to their summer wardrobe….keeping it cool with greens, whites, texture + a burst of yellow.
transition of dr. sarah’s containers to ‘full on summer’ – added lantana standards – they loved loved loved the sunny summer
preparing to plant the soho planters at 1000 pleasant street – may 2016
pennoyer newman alpine bowl II with frosty + bright succulents (frosty + bright was a favorite combination in 2016)
mid summer – sedum + succulents in flared terra cotta pots – arlington
late summer transition to greens + whites! the plumbagos were purely plumbago’d out…as were a few other gems – these were perfect for our friend beth’s ‘dinner party season’! simple, straight forward classic plantings in green + white
succulents in sunny spots were the summer of 2016 show stoppers – loved this selection – campo de fiori dimitri rectangle with a full mix
or these flapjacks in our own john lamos ‘cementitious sphere’
OCTOBER at 1000 pleasant street – some plants just ‘keep on giving’
NOVEMBER – getting ready for thanksgiving and all that follows!
lincoln – we love working at this location (cool barn addition to an older classic, beautiful gardens + stonework)
winter 2016 – we continued the frosty + bright pairing – it brought us great joy (hoping our clients loved it as much as we did!) 7 containers in lincoln – fun combinations
after lincoln we headed to mary’s house – i drive by this stone wall each morning on the way to the shop – like to see her half moon planter looking seasonally spry!
also in belmont – the week before thanksgiving…we had to wrestle this prize winning standard out of the container….remember may 2016??
a peak at a new client in wellesley – 11 containers on a most handsome property….one of our favorite new planting combinations in the low urns –
once the lights went on these were just spectacular!
it’s january and we are selecting our plants, ornaments + thinking about color + structure and the season ahead. our service includes 1, 2, 3 or 4 season container plantings (design, plant selection + installation) and container selection.
